When the girls are lined up at the Lowood school for their medical inspections, each says "Ahhhh" with their mouth open as the doctor passes. But the doctor never even looks in their mouths and their heads aren't tilted so he can. The doctor who is a "good" character is just going through the motions, or doesn't understand the basics.
When Jane arrives at Thorndale and alights her carriage, the dark shot is immediately brightened by rays of light beaming from an open door (off screen to the left). When we cut immediately to the entrance, the room has no lights at all, so no such effect would occur.
The text of "Jane Eyre, Chapter 1" that appears on screen does not correspond to the text of Bronte's novel. Chapter 1 actually opens, "There was no possibility of taking a walk that day. We had been wandering, indeed, in the leafless shrubbery an hour in the morning; but since dinner (Mrs. Reed, when there was no company, dined early) the cold winter wind had brought with it clouds so sombre, and a rain so penetrating, that further out-door exercise was now out of the question."
