Watched filming
17 July 2001 | by clayclaySee all my reviews

Working in the only theater within fifty miles, my boss and I were allowed to spend several days out in the Redwoods on location in Northern California with cast and crew. Being the only visitors...we were treated as part of the crew. Have several small snap shots of the New Zealand set which was miles from anything. This was MGM's biggest film of the year....and color was just too espensive with such a large production. Later when we played the film, the studio was nice enough to send the 24 minutes they had to cut because of length. Most of this was the tidlewave etc. Years later meet Lana again and we talked of the film. She said it was a bore to watch but fun to make. She did not like working with Van. No one seemed to infact from what I saw. I do think it should have been much better myself.
