Storyline

When ultra-respectable General Dumont discovers that his nubile daughter Agnes is "A.D.", author of a scandalous under-the-counter novel, he wants her shipped to a convent; but she escapes to Paris, planning to live with her brother, ostensibly a rich artist but really a poor guide in the Balzac Museum. This misunderstanding gets both in serious trouble, and puts Agnes in immediate need of money...just the amount offered as grand prize in an amateur striptease contest, which her new boyfriend, reporter Daniel, is covering for his magazine... Alternate Versions

In the version broadcaston television in North America in the seventies and released on VHS by Entertainment Programs International in 1997, the contestants in the striptease contest performing just before Bardot only did partial strip. The last contestant before Bardot wears panties and a bra made of daisies at the end of her act. But the DVD version released by Home Vision Entertainment in 2001 features a different take of the same scene that is almost identical except that the contestants get totally nude at the end of their act. Cheerful fluff
18 September 2002 | by EuphorbiaSee all my reviews

This is a harmless screwball comedy, mostly fast-paced, always amusing, but never laugh-out-loud funny. The striptease is a tiny and almost incidental part of the film, and Mlle Bardot never undresses on camera. A damn shame. But she really could act, and is better than the rest of the deservedly unknown cast. Maybe that is why they were chosen, so as not to upstage the luminously beautiful star.
