Laurel Srevens (Jane Russell) is a movie star who's kidnapped by a pair of desperate amateurs - Mike Valla (Ralph Meeker) and "Dandy" (Keenan Wynn). But the pair get cold feet, and decide to let her go. Worried abut the effect a faked kidnapping would have on her career, Laurel tells them they've got to go through with it. She points out she'd been party to a number of outrageous publicity stunts during her career, and since they abducted her on the eve of the release of her newest film, "The Kidnapped Bride," she fears her career will collapse, unless they make the kidnapping appear real. Did You Know?

Ray Danton was originally cast in the role of Mike, but was let go after only two days of filming because he came down with laryngitis. However, according to gossip columns of the time that wasn't the real reason: "The laryngitis was announced as the reason for Ray Danton's bow-out as Jane Russell's leading man in The Fuzzy Pink Nightgown turned out to be the fuzziest announcement of the year. The real reason Ray's out of the cast: After looking at the rushes, Producer Bob Waterfield [Jane's husband] decided he was too young for Jane. Ralph Meeker is now playing the role." Fact of the matter was, Jane was 36, but Danton was 26; Ralph Meeker, who replaced Danton was more or less Jane's age. See more »

Mike Valla: [Laurel, seeing a phone, thinks maybe she can use it to call for help] There's a lock on the phone.
Laurel Stevens: Pretty smart, aren't ya'?
Mike Valla: No, you're just kinda' dumb.

A popular movie star is kidnapped, and everyone thinks,it's a publicity gag for her new picture "The Kidnapped Bride" - it isn't,but nobody cares, because everybody thinks it is! The diva falls in love with one of her kidnappers - that was clear from the beginning,of course, but that doesn't matter. A nice idea, transpositioned in a delightful, amusing comedy full of funny and also sarcastic gags and dialogues, with terrific actors(Jane Russell - who wears a blonde wig in the first part - is nearly as good as in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes",if not better)and a good story...it is a pity that this movie is almost forgotten today!I wouldn't say it's a masterpiece-but I liked it very much!
