When billionaire Jean-Marc Clement learns that he is to be satirized in an off-Broadway revue, he passes himself off as an actor playing him in order to get closer to the beautiful star of the show, Amanda Dell.

John Huston and the film crew once played a prank on Eli Wallach during filming. He was supposed to be sprayed with some of the oil from an airplane motor. When Huston said, "Action!", the prop man opened up what Wallach thought was a fireman's hose, and sprayed black oil all over Wallach. "Get him to sing Mammy!" a crew member laughed.
