The first television series produced by eiji tsyburaya,the special effects man behind Godzilla.In the vein of the outer limits and the twilight zone except with giant rubber suited monsters.The show revolves around three recurring characters and the situations they get into with said monsters.The show is the precursor to the ultra man series.

The third episode Urutora Q: Uchuu kara no okurimono
(1966) was dubbed in English to sell the series overseas, but at the time more and more television series were being filmed in color. Ultra Q was filmed in black and white. See more
In the mid-60s, United Artists licensed the series for broadcast on American TV. The whole series was dubbed into English but never released. Reportedly, UA wasn't interested in showing a black and white program while the three networks were pushing for more color programs. An English-dubbed version of episode 3 was released on laserdisc in Japan, but the rest of the English dub remains unreleased in the US or Japan. Only a few other episodes have ended up in the hands of 16mm collectors. See more
