Storyline

Rogues Jelly Knight, Scapa Flood, and Lennie the Dip leave prison expecting boss The Duke to have their stash ready to share out. Instead, Duke's girl Sara gives them the news Duke is dead and the money gone on nursing care. They soon discover that Duke is actually running Hope Springs Nature Clinic with the help of most of the local villains. Very strange - and the nearby army camp and Sara's encouragement of Lieutenant Vine would seem to be no coincidence either. Written by Jeremy Perkins {J-26}

Trivia

This film has clear links with two earlier comedies involving John Warren and Len Heath as writers. The name "Jelly Knight", used for the character of a small-time crook, is common to both this film and "Two-Way Stretch" (1960), where the character is played by David Lodge. The character of "Anxious O'Toole", an Irish gang boss given to anxiety and played here by Victor Maddern, has clear links to "The Wrong Arm Of The Law" (1963), where Bernard Cribbins plays an Irish gang boss given to nervousness and called "Nervous O'Toole". If You Don't Laugh at this One, You're...

Rotten to the Core!

That was what the University (UVa) movie marquee said in 1965.

So I went in determined not to laugh. Within 5 minutes I was rolling in the aisle with laughter. Really the funniest movie I ever saw. A caper movie a la "Lavender Hill Mob". Everyone in this movie is crazy. I would like to get a copy of it. I rate it a 10.

"Bennie the Dip"
