Lots Of Noise And Sound Effects In Decent DVD Finale
20 March 2008 | by ccthemovieman-1See all my reviews

"Private Bowser" is the first dog employed by the Commissioner to help track down criminals. Who has to train him and go out on his first assignment? The Inspector, of course, and that first chase after a burglar turns out to be a disaster when the dog spots a cat and prefers chasing it over the criminal.

In all, we get at least six different scenes with the Inspector and Bowser chasing the robber and slapstick gag ending each leg of this long chase through the country. This is a very loud episode, the only one of the 17 in this DVD that I noticed how noisy it was. You have the dog barking a lot and a lot of clanging and other Three Stooges-like sound effects.

The story finished on a funny note as our hero Dog turns on its bosses and becomes "a boxer" instead of "a police dog."

The aforementioned DVD is "The Pink Panther Classic Cartoon Collection, Vol. 6 - Inspector Cartoons." It includes 17 of these cartoons. Around 30-35 were made altogether so there is room for another DVD of these down the road sometime.
