Avant-Garde at its best.
15 December 2018 | by Yannis_KaravidasSee all my reviews

French Nouvelle Vague was a massive exposion of new ideas about filmaking and the cinema itself. Alain Robbe-Grillet with this film, confirms Alexandre Astruc's manifesto "The Birth of a New Avant-Garde: The Camera-Stylo" (published in L'Écran on 30 March 1948), which outlines the ideas that were later expanded upon by François Truffaut and the Cahiers du cinéma. "L'éden et après" is a typical example of this movement, even if it was reliesed on the 20th April 1970, at its latest stage. It is one of the most original and inspiring films, providing a vast amount of new techniques on storytelling and a whole new perspective on the art of cinema.
