Trivia

Actress Jodie Foster was offered the Princess Leia role in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) around the time that this movie was in development when George Lucas had wanted to make the character young and Foster had actually got the part when it was realized that Foster was still under contract to Disney. There may have been a way for Foster to get out of the contract but her mother decided to honor the contract and as such Foster contractually completed Freaky Friday (1976) for Disney in 1976. Goofs

Even though this is a fictional comedy movie, Ellen, Boris, Annabel would've been in trouble in real life. After Annabel, Boris, Ben has left the 4 police cars behind them who failed to catch them. It's unknown if the police ever tracked down their house and got their license plate, issued a warrant for their arrest for reckless driving, property damage, evading a police officer, putting people in danger and Ellens license would've be revoked, end up in jail or be under house arrest, Ellen and her family including her husband Bill and next door neighbor Boris, would've gone to court to stand trial to settle for the property damages they caused to people, the police and the property while driving recklessly. Since the movie ended, it's unknown if the property damages or fines by citizens ever got paid off. See more »

Quotes

Ben Andrews: Boy mom that was terrific, that's even better than Annabel can do and she's a super ball player.
Annabel (as Mrs. Andrews): Really?
Ben Andrews: And she's beautiful.
Annabel (as Mrs. Andrews): She's what?
Ben Andrews: I think she's beautiful and I love her braces. I hope when I get that old I'll have braces too.
Annabel (as Mrs. Andrews): With in luck you won't need braces.
Ben Andrews: That's what I'm afraid of, now Annabel going to hate me more than she does now. Well why does she hate me so much?
Annabel (as Mrs. Andrews): Because there's nothing more annoying in the whole entire world with a little blue eyed saint, with perfect teeth,...

Freaky Friday brings us to the home of John Astin and Barbara Harris with their children Jodie Foster and Sparky Marcus. Harris and Foster are constantly fighting, Foster is going through teen angst saying Mom doesn't understand her, Harris's life is not being made easy by having her first child going through the teen years.

But on a fateful day where legend has it strange things do occur, one morning as the family is starting their day, the souls of Harris and Foster exchange bodies. After a lot of yelling and screaming the two decide to live each other's day as their new outward appearance dictates.

The responsibilities of adulthood thrown on Foster's shoulders just overwhelm her. As for Harris it's not easy being a teen. It all adds up to some pretty funny moments. Best being Foster/Harris making a botch of a field hockey match and Harris/Foster on water skis.

I've always liked the way the Disney Studio always gave a lot of old time players the character roles that they used to get in the old days. In particular here is Patsy Kelly in one of her last appearances as a maid who liked a cocktail every now and then.

Freaky Friday proved to be one of the Magic Kingdom's most popular products. The recent remake with Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis was as fresh as the original, though that one offered some kind of explanation for the strange occurrence.

This version just let the magic speak for itself.
