Trivia

The Wikipedia website says of the ballet Giselle: "Giselle (French: Giselle, ou les Wilis) is a romantic ballet in two acts. It was first performed by the Ballet du Théâtre de l'Académie Royale de Musique at the Salle Le Peletier in Paris, France on Monday, 28 June 1841, with Italian ballerina Carlotta Grisi as Giselle. The ballet was an unqualified triumph. Giselle became hugely popular and was staged at once across Europe, Russia, and the United States. The traditional choreography that has been passed down to the present day derives primarily from the revivals staged by Marius Petipa during the late 19th and early 20th centuries for the Imperial Ballet in St. Petersburg". Dancers is in my top 10 all-time favorite movies watched
9 January 2011 | by kinochickSee all my reviews

Every time I watch "Dancers," I'm on a high for days. This movie is a delight to watch from beginning to end. You don't even mind watching the credits as they are being underscored by highlights of Baryshnikov's dancing. The props and scenery are superb, and it certainly is an extra bonus when the dancers and supporting characters are very attractive. While the dialog may be fluffy at times, it accents the ballet's story line nicely and is a perfect match to the overall mood of the movie. Dancers is easily in the all-time favorite top 10 movies I have ever watched, and I hope it will be released on DVD soon.
