Storyline

A college football coach is told by his bosses that unless they do better this season it could be his last. To bolster the team he recruits a talented tail back. A female student is assigned to help him assimilate with college life and that includes doing his studies because he spent his whole life just playing football. And he finds himself attracted to her and she already has a boyfriend who is also on the team but he might be more concern about losing his position than losing her to him. And the coach has to deal with his other players' situations like the team's quarterback who deals with his father being distant by drinking and it eventually gets him in trouble. And one of the team's defensive players is obviously using steroids but passes the drug tests. Written by rcs0411@yahoo.com

Out of proportion
16 December 1998 | by HockSee all my reviews

As a college football player I feel that it is necessary to respond to several comments made by users of IMDB. The Program is a little extreme in its examples of how college football programs can "help" their athletes out. Granted I play for a small division II school in Michigan, but have been recruited by D I schools and do know many players from U of M and MSU in particular. The assistance shown in the movie is somewhat true to the advantages one receives for being a college athlete but indeed too extreme. The writers and producers of this movie obviously intended it for entertainment and maybe to increase suspicion towards college athletics, and they do just that. Watch this movie for what it is; a great movie about kick ass football, and that is it!
