Storyline

A failed-artist-turned critic believes that he will finally get his big break, allowing him to move to Tahiti and dedicate himself to a beautiful life of art. When he fails to get that much-needed grant - watching helplessly as the money goes instead to lurid, pornographic artists - he unleashes years of frustration and anger that accidentally results in adding a new color to his palette: blood. As the public beckons for more, it slowly starts to drive him mad - leaving him no choice but to confront them with the ultimate performance piece. Written by Anonymous

A Masterpiece of Modern Cinema
16 April 1999 | by replica-2See all my reviews

It's a thriller. No, it's a black comedy. No, it's a statement on society. No, it's Renaissance, one of the most provocative and acerbic films to come out of the indie scene. Starring Richard Hatch in perhaps his finest performance as a struggling painter who finds success using other people's blood, sweat, and tears - literally!

It's hard to find, but if you get a chance, see it! And be sure to stay for the final scene!
