A television program is interrupted by a news network announcing that three meteors have hit the United States, France and China. At first, it seems natural but after interviews by scientists and eyewitness seems to suggest that it is not. Three more meteors are coming and the various Earth governments combine forces to stop them.

Early in the film, the town "Grover's Mill," Wyoming is mentioned. "Grover's Mill," New Jersey was the landing site of the first cylinder in Orson Welles' radio broadcast "War of the Worlds," which was an inspiration for this movie. See more
The meteors are said to have hit at exactly 45 degrees north latitude. On the maps shown in the movie, one, Impact Site Alpha, hit in the Thunder Basin Grasslands of Wyoming, approximately 100 miles south of Wyoming's northern border. Wyoming's northern border runs along the 45th parallel. The impact in France occurred 20 miles south Lourdes. Lourdes is at 43 degrees north. See more

The Madacy DVD, and so far the only known video release, has altered the film's opening slightly. Without Warning starts off with a "late, late show" movie playing before being interrupted by the news bulletins. At one point, the "film's credits" are displayed, giving direction credit to Mario Bava. These credits have been removed for the DVD. See more
