Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • Jodie has marks on her back/shoulder area, which we eventually learn is the result of her stepfather coming at her with a sharp blade. We don't actually see that happen, but Jodie tells the story.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Jodie's stepfather is an abusive man who hits both Jodie and her mother. A lot of it is just talked about by Jodie and not actually seen on screen, but the man does beat the mother in one scene. We don't see the fight, but the woman is later found in her home unconscious and bleeding. She is hospitalized and seen in serious condition.
  • Ray grabs Jodie around the neck and basically says he's going to hurt her, but she is saved when someone else comes up behind him and hits him with a shovel, knocking him unconscious.
