Storyline

Darkman, needing money to continue his experiments on synthetic skin, steals a crate of cash from drug lord Peter Rooker, attracting the gangster's attention. Rooker is determined to find the source of Darkman's super strength, and uses his beautiful but evil doctor to lure Darkman into a trap. Thinking that the doctor will restore feeling to his tortured body, he discovers too late that they have taken a sample of his adrenaline, which they will market as a super steroid. As Darkman plans his revenge on Rooker's gang, he slowly begins to care about Rooker's neglected wife and daughter. He must now find a way to help them, and destroy Rooker before he uses the adrenaline to plunge the city into chaos. Written by Jordan Williams

Trivia

Filmed simultaneously with Darkman II: The Return of Durant (1995), between 15 November 1993 and 20 December 1993, but not released until going direct-to-video on 20 August 1996. See more »

Goofs

In Darkman II, Peyton learns how to extend the 'life' of the synthetic skin from 99 minutes to over 150 minutes. This technology, while apparently so simple Peyton is surprised he never thought of it in the previous film, is never seen again. See more »

Quotes

[Nico finds a discrepancy in the drug supply]
Nico: Ah, Peter. The light should have turned this as blue as a bruise. Shit's been cut.
Peter Rooker: [to Johnny] Are you shorting me?
Johnny Lee: Fuck. It ain't happening on my end.
Peter Rooker: Of course it's not. How long have we been doing business? Four, five years?
Johnny Lee: At least four.
Peter Rooker: We've had drinks together, swapped dirty jokes.
[one of Rooker's men shoots and kills two of Johnny's bodyguards]
Peter Rooker: Did you really think you could cheat me, Johnny?
Johnny Lee: Like the tast of that, Rooker? I pissed in it.

Larry Drake is sorely missed, but the film is still passable.
16 November 1999 | by gridoonSee all my reviews

"Darkman III" is probably the poorest film in the series, yet it still has some intriguing moments, and it deserves some praise for at least TRYING to develop the themes that the series had already introduced, instead of simply copying them like most sequels ("Jaws 2" or "Predator 2", for example) do. The gruesome unpleasantness of the original "Darkman" is toned down, like it had been in the first sequel (the best film in the series). But that sequel had much more action, and it also had Larry Drake, who is SORELY missed here, since the villain is played by a narcissistic Jeff Fahey. Even with its weak points, however, "Darkman III" is no worse than "average".
