In 1905, Polish horse thieves living near the Russian border find their livelihoods threatened by the new Russo-Japanese conflict because the Russian army requisitions all horses and forcibly conscripts all men for the war.
It's a movie that is never aired. And totally unknown from a B director specialized in comedies. Not uninteresting story about a couple about to split. A story like you have seen all over the decades and you will continue to watch. Good settings in the South of France. And Michel Simon is here outstanding, with also Serge Gainsbourg in a very convincing performance. A tale in which all audiences can fell a close relation to the characters. I did not expect this kind of film from Jacques Poitrenaud.
And don't forget the late Marie Dubois who passed away last week.
A good worth gem.
