Trivia

A lot of fans ask why Twiggy (Geoffrey Hughes) did not appear in The Specials after 2010. This was because after 14 years, Geoffrey's condition of prostate cancer made a return. As of 2010, he retired from acting, however, is mentioned in later specials. See more »

Aherne + Tomlinson = TV at its best!
4 October 2000 | by DemskySee all my reviews

I was wondering one day why I was paying so much for digital cable, when all it gave me was twice as many pointless channels as regular cable.

But that all changed after catching a night of comedy on BBCAmerica and the most outstanding show I've seen in years, 'The Royle Family'.

You didn't have to grow up in London to instantly be drawn to these characters. Caroline Aherne and Craig Cash have created a show that is not only hysterically funny, but is written and acted so well that even with just 6 episodes you become part of the family.

With such a perfect mixture of comedy and drama, I am crossing my fingers for a second series sometime soon.
