Disneynature’s ‘Penguins’ Continues the Enduring Legacy of Conservation at The Walt Disney Company

Through breathtaking photography and compelling storytelling that is grounded in reality, Disneynature’s Penguins, opening in U.S. theaters today, transports audiences to Antarctica to go on a journey with Steve, an Adélie penguin who sets out to build a suitable nest, find a life partner and start a family. Despite punishing weather conditions and predators that include killer whales and leopard seals, Steve’s quest is relatable to modern audiences who will empathize with the first-time father as he navigates parenthood with nothing to go on but instinct.

Penguins, the eighth theatrical release from Disneynature, continues a legacy that dates back to Walt Disney himself. The 28-minute-long documentary Seal Island was the first of 13 True-Life Adventures to be produced by Walt between 1948 and 1960. The films won eight Academy Awards® following their theatrical debuts, and continued to captivate viewers as they were later featured on The Wonderful World of Disney or screened in elementary schools.

Kristin Chenoweth Remembers “Big Brother” Craig Zadan
There is probably no actor closer associated with producers Craigs Zadan, who died suddenly last week at age 69, and Neil Meron than Kristin Chenoweth who has been the duo’s muse for two decades. She starred in one of Zadan and Meron’s early TV musicals, the 1999 Annie, which aired under ABC’s The Wonderful World of Disney banner and marked Chenoweth’s first major TV role. The Music Man, also on ABC, followed in 2003. The trio then took their creative relationship to Broadway with the 2010 revival of Promises, Promises, which starred Chenoweth and was produced by Zadan and Meron.

Chenoweth was on hand for the Zadan and Meron’s debut as Oscar producers in 2013, teaming up with host Seth MacFarlane for a memorable closing musical number. She also became part of the duo’s current live musical franchise for NBC, toplining the 2016 Hairspray Live!

Super Bowl: 23 Notable TV Shows That Landed the Coveted Post-Game Slot

With the Super Bowl drawing 111 million-plus viewers each year, the post-game slot has become the best place to launch a new show — or give a returning show some major exposure.
