Storyline

Andy Panda asks Pop if you can really catch a bird by putting salt on its tail. Pop tells Andy not to bother him only to hear a knocking at the door. The "knocking" is really coming from a woodpecker pecking against their roof. Pop sets out to trap the bird but is no match for its screwiness. He uses a wind-up explosive decoy that the bird falls for but when it explodes, he just feels "betrayed!" After giving Pop a wild ride through the sky, Andy pours salt on his tail and traps it! Two ambulance attendants come to take the bird away but they too are just as looney! Written by Matt Yorston <george.y@ns.sympatico.ca>

Woody's first appearance, but it's an Andy Panda short.
21 September 2002 | by llltdesqSee all my reviews

Happens all the time-a seasoned pro gives a young unknown a break and it makes the unknown a star! Woody went on to eclipse Andy Panda in popularity and was the top draw for Lantz studios in the years that followed. But the two always had a cordial, if somewhat bizarre, friendship, appearing in a number of shorts together. They were often seen vacationing together in their off-screen time, unlike well-known rivals at two other major studios and retired together with their families somewhere in California. Great short that's lots of fun. Well worth tracking down. Highly recommended.
