The 7 part black dramedy follows the comical exploits of four gigolos, the Callboys, while testosterone-driven management, petty arguments and deaf-mute ambition make their short-lived business crash and burn.
This popular, long-running show was initially about Oscar Crucke, the coach of amateur football team 'F.C. De Kampioenen', who's referred to as "De Kampioen" (The Champion). The series follows the adventures of his family, the chairman and sponsor of the team Balthazar Boma as well as forward Pico, goalkeeper Xavier and their wives. Football unites these people, while the focus is mainly based on their daily lives. De Kampioenen pull together against car dealer Dimitri De Tremmerie - alias DDT - who is better off without the football.Written by
Between season 1 and season 4, Oscar falls during the opening credits. When the actors line-up as their character for the group photo to be taken, they constantly swap positions. Oscar is brought to a fall by Pascale and Bieke when they unintentionally step back. After Oscar has left and as of the episode "De Nieuwe Start" (5x1), Xavier takes his place and falls for his part. Xavier trips over a bicycle lying on the grass and lands on his back. These remained the opening credits until the episode "Smakelijk!" (9x2). See more »
FC de kampioenen is something that is very well known around Belgium (the flemish part) If you live here and haven't heard of them you live under a rock, simple. anyways, this series started in 1990, and we're now 2010...which is 20 years. that's rather long...the only thing that bothers me is that the newer ones aren't all too great (and IF you watch a recent one a base your opinion on that one it shouldn't be valid, because the older ones are 100x better) but that's probably because they're running out of ideas. They'll end in 2011, after airing season 21.
so if you start watching them, don't start with the recent ones. ;)
