Trivia

The dog has the "irritated Jimmy Durante" voice one associates with Sourpuss. It's possible they were thinking of redoing their only recently invented character. See more »

A Life on the Road

Puddy Pup is driving when he meets Gandy Goose pushing a trailer home by hand. Puddy thinks he can use a trailer... but Gandy's trailer is not what it seems in this rather erratic Terrytoon.

Puddy had just been redesigned for about the fifth time in his six years and in this cartoon he is given the voice that Sour Puss will use in his cartoons co-starring with Gandy. Gandy himself has been redesigned -- he is all write now -- and the Ed Wynn vocal imitation has been toned down. Some one may have missed some staff meetings about who was working with whom. Perhaps voice artists had changed. Certainly the three lines of plot -- weird mechanical gadgets in the trailer, a swarm of attacking mosquitoes and Puddy's predatory intentions start and stop several times without much order.

Well, this happened occasionally at Paul Terry's studio, particularly at the end of the year. When this mish-moshes show up under such circumstances, I suspect another story was abandoned and this one substituted in the release schedule without enough pre-production work.
