Storyline

After the One Year War and subsequent wars with the last remnants of the Principality of Zeon, the Earth Federation formed a special military force to prevent space colonies from revolting against the Federation. Thus, the Titans were born. Eight years have passed since the end of the One Year War and now the tables have turned. The once good Earth Federation is now more corrupt than ever and will turn the other way even when its special force, the Titans, commit atrocities like gassing millions of civilians to their deaths. Because of this abuse of authority the Anti-Earth Union Group (AEUG) is formed from the breaking off of many Federation politicians and military who oppose the Titans, and they will ally with former members of the Principality of Zeon, who dislike the oppression and tyranny towards the space colonies. This where the story begins. Many heroes from the One Year War, like Amuro Ray, Char Aznable, Bright Noa, Hayato Kobayashi, and Quattro Bajeena (Char Aznable), as ... Written by fml_lopez

Trivia

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam established the eventual trend of the lead pilot, with some exceptions, getting a generally-improved Gundam as main mobile suit at some point of the series, as contrast to the first Gundam series. This idea was probably extracted from Tomino's original Gundam novelization, which had Amuro replace the RX-78-2 Gundam with the Gundam G3. This would later become the standard for most subsequent series, the only exception being Turn A Gundam. See more »

Definitely the Best Gundam Series Ever!
24 October 2003 | by sg_hikariSee all my reviews

Zeta Gundam is what true Mecha Anime should be. Drama and politcal intrigue in a futuristic setting done just the right way. The characters are very real and human. Camille, Emma, and Quatro(Char) are three of my all time favorite anime characters. Each of them fighting for thier own reasons in the sad and harsh war around them. And Bask Om and Paptiums Scirroco are two of best villians as well. Bask is a evil and cruel Tyrant with Jamitov and Paptimus is a clever and intriguing genius of a character. The story is very sad, but also has some of best action and character development in a mecha show ever. There so many times when an event happened that I was put into shock. Tomino's nick name "Kill-em All!" truly shines through in Zeta Gundam.

Forget those mediorce overly melo-dramatic Gundam shows Seed and Wing. Zeta Gundam is where the true namesake lies!
