Jason Mraz Finds Making His Broadway Debut in ‘Waitress’ Less Grueling Than Going on Tour (Exclusive)

Jason Mraz Finds Making His Broadway Debut in ‘Waitress’ Less Grueling Than Going on Tour (Exclusive)
“It’s a good gig,” Jason Mraz says of what he’s calling a “Broadway Retreat,” making his acting and Broadway debut as Dr. Pomatter in a 10-week limited run of Waitress on Broadway.

The singer, who officially took his first bow on Nov. 3, tells Et that eight performances a week onstage at the Brooks Atkinson Theater in New York City is “less grueling” than a typical touring schedule. “I am not leaving town or changing venues. I am not onstage for three hours singing 25 songs. Broadway, in a sense, is easier, at least currently in the role that I’m in.”

Based on the 2007 film starring Keri Russell, Waitress tells the story of Jenna Hunterson, currently played by Betsy Wolfe, a pregnant pie maker in an unhappy marriage who falls in love with her married gynecologist, Dr. Pomatter. “Suddenly this patient comes along who disarms him and has him step out of his comfort zone; a boring

Matt Bomer attributes his acting skills in part to years of hiding his sexuality.

The 39-year-old recently told actor Andrew Rannells in an interview with Out Magazine about how difficult it was to come out to his family and how his big secret taught him how to be a better performer.

"One of the ways I learned how to act, really, is by having secrets, and having to function as a kid in a public school in suburban Bible Belt Texas," Bomer explained. "Subsequently I worked on a gas pipeline with my brother for a while — there were ex-cons with us. It was not an environment where it was safe to be gay."

Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will be an Animated Film

It appears someone in the universe has decided to remake Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Yes. The Musical. You know, the one with Donny Osmond and all the songs. Well, apparently Elton John thought it was a good idea so here we are. To make matters better (worse?) it is planned to be an animated film. It was announced at CinemaCon 2017 on Tuesday by Adam Fogelson, chairman of Stx's Motion Picture group. The production company known for such great works as The Gift and Secret in Their Eyes.  And I'm not even trying to be facetious. They only started in 2015, so their slate of movies is very little.

For those who are completely ignorant of the musical, it is about Joseph, from the bible, who got a colorful coat because he was best boy of his family, and his brothers got in a hissy and sold him to slavers.
