British version of "Hollywood Squares" with nine celebrities of varying stature arranged in a grid and answering questions from host Bob Monkhouse to win prizes for one of two contestants. During the first run in the late 1970s, William Rushton occupied the centre square in virtually every edition. After a decade's break, the series returned for a few more years in the early 1990s but was not as popular.
Did You Know?
Due to the nature of recording the show in recording blocks, with the many of the same celebrities appearing in multiple episodes, in different positions on the grid, with only a few celebrities varied per edition, its very easy to be confused as to edition you are watching, especially if not shown in the original broadcast order, without checking all 9 celebrities, and/or the contestants.
