Storyline

Great news awaits Zachos Markas--the prosperous and pampered president of the not-for-profit association, Spirit and Ethos--as his late uncle leaves him with a substantial and much-anticipated legacy. Under those circumstances, who cares if there's one tiny, yet inviolable condition to his decision? It certainly wouldn't be much of a problem if Zachos had to marry a certain Miss Aristea--the only person who stayed close to the deceased to the bitter end--to get his hands on such a handsome inheritance. However, when the delightful maiden proves to be a woman of classic beauty and unconventional looks, only an audacious and utterly perfidious machination would get Zachos off the hook, provided that someone else took his place--say, one of his unsuspecting and needy tenants, Notis and Kosmas. But, how easy can it be, especially when love has already burst into bloom? Written by Nick Riganas

Superb example of the old Greek cinema
10 February 2006 | by kinglagosSee all my reviews

One of the most known Greek comedies from the old glorious Greek cinema. This is a very funny movie with some of the best Greek actors providing endless humor and really good performances. Besides that this film also offers a "back in time" view of the mid-50s Athens. Many will miss this certain neighborhood feeling one gets from watching the small streets looking like village paths.

In my opinion later Greek films never achieve this feeling of this generation of films especially the humor and the flair of the time.

All in all a superb film and a pioneer of Greek modern cinema. If you like this you should also watch the many other films the main actors also did. The combination of these 4 is a killer and a must see!
