Storyline

This documentary gives us a rare glimpse into the persona of the great director Takeshi Kitano. We see him in action directing Kikujiro, one of the greatest risks of his career. The man is a vortex of creative energy but we also see the anxiety he feels every day, worried that he might be making the biggest mistake of his life. It also features a delightful summit meeting between Kitano and the visiting Taiwanese director Hou Hsiao-hsien. Written by L.H. Wong <lhw@sfs.org.sg>

A must for anyone even barely interested in film making
9 November 2000 | by mario.majoniSee all my reviews

At first I was just curious about a "backstage" of the sweet and smart movie (Kikujiro no natsu...) I loved so much, but as the film ran on, I was just wishing to see what master Kitano (for he truly is a master of film-making that he raises to state of the art) would do, and which decisions he would take next.

A must for anyone even briefly interested in film making or Kikujiro, another pearl by Kitano.
