"Esplendor" was a classic soap-opera produced by Globo TV and aired in the first half of 2000. Nice reconstitution of 50's style, it's a very light story about two girls named Flavia, who want to escape from their past and live a new life in a far place. After an accident, Flavia Cristina (Leticia Spiller), assumes the identity of the partner, Flavia Regina (Cristine Fernandes), and go to work on the house of Frederico Berger (Floriano Peixoto), the richest man in the city of Esplendor. Flavia falls in love with Frederico, but remains feeling guilty from your lies, fearing she won't be forgiven. This is a fine production, with wonderful art direction and sets with rich details. Good actors (like Gracindo Jr., Osmar Prado and Cassia Kiss) divide screen space with some newbies who do their job. But please, don't expect anything else than clichés and skin-depth characters. Anyway, this is a typical Globo TV production. If your local TV station is airing "Esplendor" on 6 PM time, perfect. Pick a cup of tea, some cookies and enjoy it.
