Trivia

Amanda Tapping ('Samatha Carter') says, "This is how they controlled it. It took us 15 years and three supercomputers to MacGyver a system for the gate on Earth." Richard Dean Anderson played the eponymous lead in MacGyver (1985). According to one account, Tapping ad-libbed the MacGyver reference while reading for the part of Carter, and that was what clinched the role for her.

Daniel Jackson's wife's name in the feature film is pronounced Sha'uri, but in the series it's been changed to Sha're. The change was made, because Michael Shanks (Dr Daniel Jackson) couldn't pronounce it correctly (as stated in DVD commentaries).

Early in the story there is an exterior establishing shot of a guarded road leading to a tunnel entrance for the NORAD station at Cheyenne Mountain AFB. That footage really is of the main entrance to the under-the-mountain installation at Cheyenne Mt.AFB.

The actors playing the Abydonians, both here and in the movie, (especially _Alexis Cruz (I)' as Skaara) sound like they are swallowing their "L"s; making O'Neill sound like "Oneer" for example. In ancient Egyptian there is no hieroglyph for an "l" sound. Later the Greeks would use the lion hieroglyph to represent the "l" but it actually represented the "rw" consonant sound. Whether the actors were doing this on purpose or not is an interesting question.

In 2009 this was edited to create Stargate SG-1: Children of the Gods - Final Cut (2009), in memory of Don S. Davis. Some scenes were deleted or added, dialogue changed (Carter saying "MacGyver'd" is changed to "jerry rigged"), and any frontal nudity (Sha're) removed.

When dialing Apophis's home world, Sgt. Harriman announces over the P.A. system, "Chevron seven unlocked." This is the reverse of what they say for the rest of the series when chevron seven is said to be locked.

Composer Ken Harrison, who worked on other Richard Dean Anderson series such as "MacGyver" and "Legend", did a synth score (due to budget restraints) that was not used.
