He and Joe also continue work on the pond and explain the value of vertical eye-catchers in landscape design. Carol shows how to plant dry slopes and visits an Irish collection of old-fashioned, mostly reconstructed primroses.

Monty Don continues planting, now in the pond. He and Carol elaborate on propagation, notably with acquisitions from the RHS Malvern show. Carol visits an authentic, albeit restored Victorian fernery, a fairytale grotto. Rachel returns to the Oxfordshire barracks, were the families grew confident and the men even constructed a stylish entry to the now respected garden. She takes them to a garden center to show what perennials they can aim for next.
