Trivia

During the presentation of the short film awards, a protester barged into the auditorium shouting but was forced out by security. The home audience never saw or heard any of the incident and the only indication is that presenter Martin Short very briefly looked over in that direction. See more »

Nice to see Myrna Loy get an Oscar--finally.
8 November 2001 | by SkippyDevereauxSee all my reviews

This was the year of "Dances With Wolves", but what stands out for me is seeing one of the greatest actresses ever, Myrna Loy, finally receive an honorary Academy Award. Long overlooked by the academy, she finally got the award this year, but was sick and could not accept in person. They had to have it from her Manhattan apartment. Too bad they did not give this award to her when her health was better. Also, this was the year Kathy Bates pulled an upset over Joanne Woodward and Angelica Huston to win the best actress award for "Misery".
