Sex & Nudity

  • Rated TV-14 for sexual material, some language, and drug content.
  • Some moderately strong sexual references, usually implied and not explicit.
  • One of the characters is a sex addict; he puts up many sexual jokes and double meanings.
  • Some sexual situations, though nudity isn't shown.
  • Sometimes men are seen shirtless and women are shown in their underwear.
  • Numerous pregnancy elements.

Violence & Gore

  • Medical gore, some bloody, but not graphic.
  • Occasional slapstick-style comedy.
  • J.D's fantasies can sometimes be a little gory or graphic (e.g. blood squirting out of a severed arm), although it is always for comedic effect. (These scenes are very rare)

Profanity

  • Infrequent uses of "hell", "bitch", and "damn"
  • Numerous sexual references, dialogues, and jokes.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Given the medical setting, usage of drugs, smoking, and excessive alcohol intake are presented alongside the potential consequences.
  • During almost each episode, the main characters meet at a bar and drink plenty.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Even if Scrubs is quite harmless and absolutely not graphic in any way, especially if compared to most medical dramas, some people who find surgery disturbing might be unsettled by some scenes.
  • As this series is set in a hospital, plenty of patients die, suffer, or have a terminal disease, and certain episodes are very sad and depressing.
