Sex & Nudity

  • Main female character wears a lot of short skirts and tight fitting tops that reveal cleavage
  • Mild references to sex and related behavior.
  • Many of the cases involve adultery.
  • One episode revolves around "Sapphire Magazine", a men's magazine/softcore porn magazine similar to Playboy.
  • One episode revolves around a nudist beach, with some near nudity.
  • One episode involves a scene where a man and woman are kissing passionately in the back of a car for about 20-30 seconds.

Violence & Gore

  • Most episodes begin with a depiction of murder. There is some occasional blood but rarely if ever is anything graphic shown.
  • The most graphic murders are only implied. For example, in one episode, a man gets his head crushed by an elephant, but it is off-screen. In another episode, a man is forced into a garbage compactor and is also off-screen, but we do see a lot of blood splatter on the wall.
  • A woman is discovered hanged.

Profanity

  • The occasional "hell" and "damn", and stronger words, like "bitch", "ass" and "bastard", are sometimes (not often) used.
  • One of the characters uses the phrase "son of a bitch" very often to signify surprise or indignation.
  • There is one episode with a censored use of the n-word.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Some drinking and smoking every now and then.
  • Drug references here and there.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Mildly intense (and sometimes even disturbing) scenes are depicted often, but they are usually quick.
  • In one episode, a woman falls from a clock in a seemingly peaceful campus, and breaks the windshield. Jump scene.
  • There are many scenes of people trying to escape from people who are trying to kill them.
  • In one episode, Monk is being pursued by police after being framed for homicide.
