Allison Janney Joins The Girl On The Train

Allison Janney Joins The Girl On The Train
Emily Blunt, Rebecca Ferguson, Haley Bennett, Jared Leto and Justin Theroux are already all aboard, but The Girl On The Train is still accepting more passengers. Allison Janney is the latest to join the ensemble cast for Tate Taylor's adaptation of Paula Hawkins' bestseller. Erin Cressida Wilson wrote the screenplay from the much buzzed-about book, which drew comparisons to Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl for its narrative. We’ll caution that even the basic synopsis might be considered a spoiler, but read on if you wish… The story follows a recently divorced woman called Rachel (Blunt) struggling with her life and sinking into alcoholism to try to cope. She spies a seemingly perfect couple from her London train ride every day and starts to fantasise about their lives. But things take a turn when she sees something shocking…Janney will play a police detective, continuing a working relationship

Edgar Ramirez In Talks For The Girl On The Train

Edgar Ramirez In Talks For The Girl On The Train
He’ll run, Base jump, dive out of planes and otherwise go to extremes in next year’s Point Break remake, but Edgar Ramirez has his eye on a more sedate (but, given the plot, no less thrilling) mode of transport for a potential future film. He’s in talks to join The Girl On The Train. Erin Cressida Wilson adapted the script from Paula Hawkins’ much buzzed-about book, which drew comparisons to Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl for its narrative. The Longest Ride – The Review

Okay multiplex maniacs, before we make a most welcome return visit to the Marvel Movie Universe, it’s time for that annual (sometimes semi-annual) slog into another movie universe, Sparks-land. I’m talking about another flick based on another product off the novel assembly line from Nicholas Sparks. Box office gold occurred with The Notebook eleven (!) years ago and the studios have been returning with pick, shovel, and camera to that mine ever since. Just like cinema stars and franchises, he’s a brand name. It’s just a question of which familiar themes will be re-hashed and which photogenic actors will be put through some now familiar paces. But hey, we may get a surprise, although this one’s title seems more than a little daunting. Are you ready to embark on The Longest Ride?

This ride begins a year ago as professional bull rider Luke Collins (Scott Eastwood

Teen Wolf Season 4 Finale Recap: On The Run

Last night was the Teen Wolf Season 4 finale and while it was sad for many fans, the episode didn’t disappoint. It started off by showing Kira once again in the bottom of the dungeon. She spies a door which leads to a cave-like hallway, and as she’s walking through it, calling out for Scott, she gets a visit from Scott the berserker. He wrestles with her a bit before Kate shows up. Kira notices Scott’s tattoos on the arm of this berserker and demands answers from Kate. Kate explains that they’re in what’s known as the Temple of Smoking … Continue reading →

Her long white gown flutters in the Pacific Ocean breeze. She runs to him, reckless and breathless, and God (or perhaps a really astute stylist) intervenes, making his tattered old t-shirt magically disappear, revealing a torso smoother and sturdier than the Quartz kitchen countertop of your home-design fantasies.

Pretty Little Liars Recap: School Hard

Pretty Little Liars Recap: School Hard
Last week’s episode was amazing, and next week’s noir-fest looks like it’s going to be fantastic. I guess it’s only to be expected that the episode in the middle is a bit lackluster, and lacking in vital information, and also lacking in compelling dialogue from Shauna.1. Spencer (last week: 2)Spencer solves all the mysteries. Of course she does. She spies the camera spying her. That’s the kind of sleuth she is. A for effort, Ezra, but you are not long for this world. Now seems like a good time for us all to review the Inviolable Rules of Television Health and Medicine. Even when logic, coherent character development, or the actual laws of science suggest — nay, demand — otherwise, these rules must be followed on every television show lest chaos reign on the airwaves. For instance: If a woman throws up, she is always pregnant; if

"Arrow" Recap: Trust Issues

You see, the problem with Arrow is that it set the bar for itself really high at the beginning. So now, when they flounder, it kind of irritates me. It's still as good or better than anything else on TV, but an episode like this last one grates on my nerves because it's so disappointing.

This week, it's a gang of armored-car heists. Normally, I am in such a blissed-out high from ogling Stephen Amell's abs and from the excitement of watching the layers of the plot unfold. Instead, I'm grouchy and all I can think as the heist is happening is, "wow, what idiot designs an armored car and forgets to make the windows bullet-proof?"

I ponder that as we shift focus to the Queen Mansion and Thea dropping gigantic hints that she is hoping for a car for her upcoming eighteenth birthday. Well, I suppose it's more

"Bomb Girls" recap (1.4): Swing it, shake it, get in lots of fights.

Tags: Bomb GirlsReelzAli LiebertIMDb

So first of all, this:

All horn-tooting aside, the part I like best is “Betty means the world to me,” because it really shows. Really the whole cast — Charlotte Hegele, Jodi Balfour and Meg Tilly — come into their own more and more with every episode, which is a little bittersweet since this season is almost over."

Now, this is my favorite episode to date so let’s jump right into the action.

Blue Shift is just minutes away from finishing Victory Munitions’ millionth bomb — you remember the bombs right, those things that kill people and one of them lives in Archie’s chest now—but let’s not forget who the real enemy is in this war: Red Shift. Those hacks are waiting in the wings for the chance to steal all the glory.

Blue Shift is our ally. We have always been at war with Red Shift.

"Bomb Girls" recap (1.3): "To Catch a Thief"

Tags: Bomb GirlsBomb Girls recapsAli LiebertIMDb

Welcome back to Bomb Girls, where the only thing hotter than Betty is the — just kidding nothing is hotter than Betty.

I have to admit, in the first two episodes of this show, I was a little troubled by my dislike for all the male characters. Had I finally become one of those man-hating lesbians I’d heard so much about? Or possibly, had the writers of this show? Then I thought about it and realized a: television writers took the same classes I did in college and devote a great deal of time and thought to their work. And b: the men of Victory Munitions are not equally awful. And readers, I must like y’all a whole lot, because I made you a chart about it.

As you can see from my research, the men of Bomb Girls are only sympathetic to

"The Real L Word" recap: Episode 202

This week, we open on Whitney and Sara, still in bed, still naked, and still going at it. They compare themselves to those other star-cross'd lovers, Romeo and Juliet, although I suspect Sara thinks a Capulet is something you take for a hangover.

Whitney says, "It's like I'm sneaking out on one family to go yon window breaks to the other."

I don't remember Juliet wearing heels and a thong, do you?

After they find the motivation to get vertical and go outside, Whitney and Sara check out that other hotbed of lesbian activity: a dog park. Across an expanse of poop and soggy tennis balls, is Whitney's ex and current houseguest, Rachel, who's also out for her morning constitution. She spies the two of them and puts it together; they've been hooking up. This park suddenly has two bitches, too many.

Rachel leaves without confronting Whitney. Clearly, no one

Best and worst new shows, decisions and scheduling moves of the 2011 upfronts
Upfronts are finally over, but the walk-up to the fall 2011-12 lineup has only just begun. Before we start splitting hairs over the really important stuff (why is Jesus starring in a J.J. Abrams show? Can somebody ixnay the silk pantsuits on Charlie’s Angels already?), we have a few knee-jerk reactions to what we saw and heard this week in New York.

Most impressive big event trailer: Fox’s new X Factor trailer. Okay, we get it now — the show is really big with lots of drama — and did you realize contestants fly off to, like, Simon Cowell’s

Chuck 4.16 "Chuck vs the Masquerade" Recap

Did you miss last week's Cat-tactic episode? Catch up with my recap here.

"Chuck vs the Masquerade" opens in Samara, Russia.  A man gets into the back of a car and asks the driver, Jurek, if he has heard of the whereabouts of a key.  Volkoff didn't give it to him, Jurek answers.  Volkoff must have "chosen Anotnia."  That was evidently the incorrect answer as the man kills Jurek.  Cut to Perugia, Italy.  The same man kisses a beautiful woman passionately.  She pulls gun on him and says she knows what happened to Jurek.  She tries to fire the gun, but there are no bullets.  The man shows her the bullets he removed from her gun an kills her.  Next stop: Bremen, Germany.  The man tells Chrisoph he is the last of Volkoff's lieutenants.  Christoph swears he doesn't have key, but he knows who does.

Vampire Diaries To Bring On Mysterious Hipster & More For Season 2

Vampire Diaries to bring on mysterious hipster & more for season 2. Michael Ausiello at Entertainment Weekly recently revealed a new, interesting "Vampire Diaries" spoiler wrapped in some casting news and spoiler chat combo. 09/23/10: The Big Bang Theory – “The Robotic Manipulation”

I once read somewhere online that all technology, no matter how insignificant, goes through four stages; how it can be made, how the public can use it, how the military can use, and how the pornograpy industry can use it. In tonight’s episode of The Big Bang Theory, sad sack and hopeless bachelor Howard Wolowitz has a programmable robot arm. With this information, you can probably guess where this week’s episode heads.

Before we delve into the creepy details of cybernetic gratification, let’s discuss Sheldon. Last season, Sheldon met a young woman named Amy through an internet dating site. Amy (played by Mayim Bialik of Blossom fame) is, for all intents and purposes, a female Sheldon. Same vocal patterns, same gravitas towards science and same condescension for social standards. As such, both Amy and Sheldon enjoy each other’s company, but reach the consensual agreement that a romantic relationship is folly.

Natashia Williams to Guest Star on The Vampire Diaries

  • TVfanatic
She nearly made the finals on season seven of American Idol. Now, she's officially made it on to the most pulse-pounding show on TV.

Natashia Williams will guest star on an episode of The Vampire Diaries later this year. According to Entertainment Weekly, she'll portray Lucy, "a mysterious hipster who possesses a fun swagger." That description might be more mysterious than the reason behind Katherine's return.

Williams has appeared on CSI: NY and is best known for her regular role on She Spies. No word yet on the air date of her episode, but fans can discuss her guest-starring stint in our Vampire Diaries forum. We'll meet you there!
