In the comedy Daddy Day Care, two fathers lose their jobs in product development at a large food company and are forced to take their sons out of the exclusive Chapman Academy and become stay-at-home fathers. With no job possibilities on the horizon, the two dads open their own day care facility, "Daddy Day Care", and employ some fairly unconventional and sidesplitting methods of caring for children. As "Daddy Day Care" starts to catch on, it launches them into a highly comedic rivalry with Chapman Academy's tough-as-nails director... who has driven all previous competitors out of business.Written by

Adult pratfalls and cute kids it isn't any good but at least you know what you're getting
Fired from their marketing jobs, Charlie and Phil find themselves running low on cash to the point where Charlie and wife Kim have to withdraw son Ben from his exclusive prep school, Chapman. This gives them an idea though and soon they have turned the Hinton household into the base for Daddy Day Care. Things get off to a slow start but soon the men find their feet and their unique approach (which mostly involves reacting to the children) finds a market. This brings them into conflict with Mrs Harridan, who runs the main prep school in the area.
In fairness to this film, what about it made me think that it was going to be anything other than what it was? The answer is nothing of course because the title, poster and cast all scream family comedy at you with all that that entails. And so it delivers just what you expect, which will be perfect for some viewers and a perfect reason not to watch for others. The plot is obvious and it goes just where you expect it to, with all the lessons learnt and jokes delivered that you see coming from the very start. The humour is very basic and seems to involve a lot of people falling over or being kicked by children. I maybe laughed once in the whole thing. The cute kids are shamelessly pushed to the fore at every chance so that the target audience can either a) relate, or b) coo over them.
The cast match this through and nobody tries too hard. Murphy does the job and I suppose the only question is whether or not you appreciate that or not. All I can say is that his performance matched the genre. Garlin is much the same a comedy fat man to be a comedy fat man. Zahn doesn't do much of anything but I suppose for him he at least got to flirt with the stunning Arcieri, a woman that is his status and money away from being accessible to him! King, Huston, Katz, Chabert and others are all around but there isn't a lot of people to do here other than the basics.
Some films offer much but deliver little, at least this film had the decency to offer little and delivery pretty much that. Those that go into it welcoming that will get what they want while at least others have a warning that this is something they should avoid if they want more than cute kids and adults falling down.
