Trivia

Writer/Director Dawson "Lee" Williams was in a directing class at Long Beach City College taught by actor Mark Piatelli. Mark's class centered more on acting than directing so that directors could learn about what actors go through. The class inspired Lee, formerly a successful businessman, to make this short film (produced by Long Beach State Film Teacher Gary Prebula) featuring a cast of character actors who have been in the business for many years . Mark got the role of the main characters' son, and several crew members were also in his directing/acting class including still photographer Kelly Nuti and James M. Tate. See more »

Outstanding short film
8 July 2009 | by plwwhoSee all my reviews

The story was evocative and the production outstanding for a first time writer producer. I don't know how many awards the film won at the festivals but I understand it was more than forty. Great little story, well told.

One of the best things about the film was how the ending circled back to the beginning of the film and how surprised I was at the ending. It was absolutely beautifully written and directed.

I would highly recommend Trade Day to anyone who is interested in an art form that we have lost - that of telling a great story and in a very compelling way.
