Scientists at first believed that the dinosaurs were wiped out by a meteorite 65 million years ago, in truth the meteorite split the Earth into two dimensions: Dino Earth & Another Earth. Dino Earth is the Earth where the Dinosaurs are the superior species while Another Earth is the Earth in which humans are the dominant species. In Dino Earth, a long raging war between the inhabitants known as the Dragon People and the Evolions(a entities from the meteorite) has commenced for as long as anyone could remenber. One day, Asuka of the Dragon People traveled to Another Earth via a trans-dimensional portal and was followed by the Evoliens who had three Bakuryu(dinosaur mechas) under their own control. As the Bakuryu attack Tokyo, a distress call was sent to three humans with "Dino Guts" to tame each of the three Bakuryu. Upon taming their own Bakuryu, the three lucky humans have form the team known as Abaranger with the sole purpose of protecting their Earth from the Evoliens.Written by
"Bakuryuu Sentai Abarenja" is an incredibly addictive series. I personally believe that it is far better than the American Power Rangers Dino Thunder because of the complexities and background stories of each character and the intense action that is packed into every half hour. The characters have distinct differences between those of the common hero-types of the American series, with darker histories, deeper human flaws, and unique issues that delve deeper into the human nature; at the same time, it discusses issues that can easily be connected to its audience (i.e., the issue of pollution in the episode of exhaust-bombing monster and associated illness). Every action scene incorporates a bizarre sense of reality, where each strength and weakness becomes a factor and the monsters they fight learn, adapt, and develop to fight them. The music is strangely lovable and can turn into a song that repeats in the head for days on end. Overall, Abaranja is too good to pass up if you loved Dino Thunder.
