The fund has been implemented to provide equity finance to local production companies looking to capitalize on (and contend with) the growth of Svod companies in the territory. The idea is to encourage a new wave of investors into the sector and it marks the first time that the BFI, the UK’s lead public organization for film, has collaborated with the private sector to stimulate production funding.

Jenny Agutter is to this day, even with her numerous acting achievements under her belt, still seen as a figure of lust. The Heart Guy TV Review (aka ‘Doctor Doctor’)

A little bit Northern Exposure and a little bit Doc Martin, The Heart Guy (Doctor Doctor in its native Australia) is another entrant in the “talented Doctor forced to tend to small town rubes” genre. Much as it may seem that we wouldn’t need another run at such a pinpoint premise, it turns out that we may need a few more, because it apparently can’t miss.

The uniqueness to the spin here is that our Australian heart surgeon, Hugh Knight (Rodger Corser), is put on the Impaired Registrants List after his party lifestyle takes an ugly turn, and he has to serve a year as a Gp in a rural area as his punishment. The kicker is that he is assigned to his own hometown, which means he gets to see a lot of his parents and his ex-girlfriend, Charlie (Nicole de Silva), who is now married to his brother,

Frankly, that sparse poster copy would have been enough to tempt most punters into the cinema in 1994, but a werewolf movie starring a man who already appeared to be mid-transformation in real life would have been a deal-sealer for many a horror aficionado. Which is perhaps why, when appraising Smiling Jack’s extensive filmography, Wolf is often drudged up from the file marked ‘oh yeah, I forgot about that one’.

Because Wolf is many things; but it ain’t a horror film.

In fact, trying to pin Wolf

Short Film Review – Neon (2016)

Tom Jolliffe reviews the short film Neon, which premiered at FrightFest 2016…

It’s a difficult task to create a short film which captivates and challenges an audience. This I know first hand. One might assume that you can pick up a camera and shoot something for nothing. In theory you could, but you leave yourself at the mercy of people working out of kindness or as a first dip of their toe into shooting something. The truth is even with short films you still need to spend money. You are fighting against a lack of demand for them. You’re trying to pull in financing for something that people will generally be loathe to finance due to a lack of perceived return. In some regards it’s hard to capture your audience too. A singular short is very truncated. If it’s not episodic, to some there is no reason
