Eva Longoria Reveals That Time’s Up Is Looking to Get Involved in 2020 Election
Eva Longoria said Thursday in Cannes that Time’s Up, the progressive movement pushing for gender equality in the workplace that she co-founded, is looking for ways to be more politically active in the 2020 polls. “We’re trying to figure out what is Time’s Up’s role in these elections, and how can we have an impact,” she said at a Kering Women in Motion talk at the Majestic Hotel.

Longoria said that the group’s efforts ahead of next year’s elections need to focus not only on the presidential contest, but on down-ballot votes at state and local levels, the consequences of which can be even more far-reaching. “We see what’s happening in Alabama right now, which is crazy, archaic, not progressive, not American,” she said, referring to that state’s recent passage of an anti-abortion law. “That’s a state legislature.”

Last year, Longoria executive

Jimmy Kimmel Says ‘Blame Channing’ for ABC’s 2018-19 Shows, and His Other Best Jokes From Disney’s Upfront

Jimmy Kimmel Says ‘Blame Channing’ for ABC’s 2018-19 Shows, and His Other Best Jokes From Disney’s Upfront
Jimmy Kimmel delivered his annual barrage of jabs at Disney’s upfront event Tuesday, with his yearly monologue of playful jokes coming at the expense of the company, which owns his home network, ABC.

This year marked “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” host Kimmel’s 16th upfront, and you can expect to see him there for at least the next three years — the late-night host just signed a new 3-year deal with ABC to continue his show into its 20th season.

Kimmel started his monologue by bringing out Jeremy Maguire, the little boy who plays Joe Pritchett on “Modern Family,” the long-running ABC sitcom coming up on its 11th and final season.

Jimmy Kimmel Blitzes Disney “Cluster”-Front, Zinging ‘Roseanne’, Felicity Huffman, Les Moonves, Constance Wu: His Best Jokes

Jimmy Kimmel Blitzes Disney “Cluster”-Front, Zinging ‘Roseanne’, Felicity Huffman, Les Moonves, Constance Wu: His Best Jokes
Jimmy Kimmel scorched a bit more earth than usual in his 16th appearance at ABC’s upfront, an appropriate increase in scale and intensity given the super-sized, merger-enhanced affair, which showcased not just ABC but the newly enlarged Disney portfolio.

Kimmel, of course, did not miss the opportunity to take shots at the “clusterf–k” of assets arrayed by Disney in recent months. Having just reinforced his home base at ABC and signing a three-year contract extension, he sharpened the knife during the set as usual, but in some ways was less brutal on his own network than he was on the competition. Along the way, President Donald Trump, Constance Wu, the Disney-Fox deal and many other targets were in the late-night comic’s line of sight.

Here are some of the best lines:

Jimmy Kimmel’s 10 Best Jokes From ABC’s Upfront Presentation

  • Variety
Jimmy Kimmel’s 10 Best Jokes From ABC’s Upfront Presentation
Jimmy Kimmel brought his traditional scorched earth comedy to ABC’s upfront presentation in New York on Tuesday.

The late-night host took plenty of shots at his own network and its executives, while also spreading the love around to other broadcasters and some of TV’s biggest names. Kimmel need not worry about getting fired, though, considering he just signed a three-year contract extension with ABC.

Here are 10 of Kimmel’s best jokes from the presentation.

Karey Burke/Channing Dungey

Kimmel took aim at the fact that ABC Entertainment head Channing Dungey departed the network for Netflix, with Freeform executive Karey Burke stepping in to fill the gap.

“Privately, [Burke] asked me to make it clear to you the shows you’re seeing are not her fault,” Kimmel said. “I can’t believe Channing left us for Netflix. Who does she think she is, our viewers?” Kimmel also said he would

Us actress Felicity Huffman pleads guilty

Hollywood actress Felicity Huffman has pleaded guilty to paying $15,000 to a fake charity that facilitated cheating when her daughter took the SATs for college admission. When she appeared in court in Boston on Monday, prosecutors recommended a sentence of four months prison time for the 56-year-old "Desperate Housewives" TV star for her role in the college admissions scandal, CNN reported.

They also suggested a $20,000 fine and 12 months of supervised release for the charge, which is a felony. She is slated to be sentenced on September 13.

The charity was associated with Rick Singer, who has confessed to helping wealthy parents cheat on standardised tests for their children. Singer also bribed college coaches to falsely designate students as recruited athletes, smoothing their path to admission, a criminal complaint says.

"I had no knowledge of Singer paying (others)," Huffman said on Monday before she broke down in tears. "Everything else (prosecutors) said I did,
