The role of Mommo, Lucas's grandmother, was originally voiced by Shirley MacLaine. During production, the role was recast with Lily Tomlin, and some Mommo shots had to be reanimated once Mommo's dialogue was re-recorded. Similarly, some of the shots with Fugax had to reanimated when Alan Cumming was replaced with Bruce Campbell.
