A longing to kill her and a sense of awe and love for her
9 April 2017 | by deickemeyerSee all my reviews

The audience watched this picture breathlessly, It is a well-acted well-made offering and, in its big scene we see a maniac who we have been told makes a specialty of infanticide in a house alone with little girl of about eight and her baby brother. The child is a fine actress and beside this we have grown fond of her because of her pleasing ways. These things not only convince us that her plight is real, but make us take a poignant interest in it. Everything in the action is made clear and plain, A police warning notified us that the "marked man" was at large and we recognized him as soon as we saw him. He enters the little house as to a refuge from his pursuers and the child treats him kindly. The bread knife is there and he feels at the same time a longing to kill her and a sense of awe and love for her. The struggle between these two makes the drama vital, Very interesting. A good offering. - The Moving Picture World, December 21, 1912
