Priyamani not comfortable being intimate on screen

The National award-winning actress Priyamani, who stars in the web series "The Family Man" alongside Manoj Bajpayee, says, without degrading what other actors may feel about the issue, she avoids intimate scenes because such content is not suitable for a family audience.

"I do not want to associate myself with sexual content on the webspace. Honestly, I understand that as an actor I should be comfortable with playing different characters. I am also not degrading those actors who are part of stories that require intimate scenes, but as an actress, I wouldn't be doing any scene that requires smooching and making out. I am not comfortable," Priyamani told Ians.

Mumbai, Feb 11: National Award-winning southern actress Priyamani has worked in Hindi films earlier but in Rohit Shetty's "Chennai Express" she is doing her first ever item number. The actress can't wait to shoot for it as it would allow her to meet Bollywood superstar and the film's lead actor Shah Rukh Khan.

"I am very excited. I am just waiting for the shoot to happen so that I get to meet Shah Rukh Khan and to shoot with him," Priyamani told Ians.

Priyamani Camped in Bollywood

Having completed her shooting stint for Raavana with Aishwarya Rai and Abshishek Bachchan, Priyamani is currently camped out in Mumbai, possibly hoping that more Bollywood offers may come her way. Meanwhile, work is continuing on the Kannada movie called Raam with Puneet Rajkumar. Hot on the news that Ayesha Takia is about to launch her sister in Bollywood, we learn that Vidya Balan's sister Priyamani is about to launch her career with a role opposite Abhishek Bachchan in Raavana where she plays Abhi's sister Shoorpankha. The Balans know the Bachchans very well – Vidya also appeared in Guru and with both the male distaffs of the family in Pa. A source from Mani Ratnam's crew on Raavan says, "Many top Bollywood actresses were approached for the role of Shoorpankha but they refused it because they didn't want to play Abhishek Bachchan's sister. Abhishek is a dishy actor, and not many actresses want to ruin their chances of being paired romantically opposite him by playing his sister in Raavan."

Priyamani is no stranger to the screen. The South actress has won awards for her performances in the movies Paruthi Veeran and Thirakkatha.

Priyamani Makes her Bollywood Debut in Ravaan

Bubbly Southern star Priyamani will be making her Bollywood debut in Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan's new movie Ravana in a negative role - and she didn't even realise it! "I didn't know that I would be a part of the Hindi film until the costume designer came to take my measurements for two sets of costumes," she explains, "He said he had been instructed to take measurements for both the Tamil and Hindi versions of the film...I wear different dresses in them. I was very happy when this information was revealed to me by Sabyasachi Mukherjee who has been working with Rani Mukerji for Hindi films."

Kerala-born Priyamani is the cousin of Vidya Balan. A Psychology student, she won the National Film Award for her role in Paruthi Veeran. She was also in the hit Yamadonga and won a Filmfare South Award for her role in Thirakkatha.
