Trivia

The episodes #48-60 of the series, from The Moomins: Zwyczajny Dzien (1981) to The Moomins: Kometa nad Dolina (1981), are based on the second Moomin book "Comet in Moominland" (original title in Swedish: "Kometjakten"; Finnish: "Muumipeikko ja pyrstötähti") by the Finnish author Tove Jansson. It was first published in 1946 and revised in 1968. The feature-length film Moomins and the Comet Chase (2010) is also created and compiled from these Comet in Moominland-based episodes of the television series. See more »

An excellent series
21 September 2007 | by sutt-3See all my reviews

Forget what Torgo says, if you were younger when this was on, then you would have found this series charming, and a bit scary at times, but then kids like to be scared, just a bit, but not too much and this has just the right amount of suspense to keep youngsters happy while still being watchable by us older folks. The stories were excellent, being based on the original books, and in fact, as a fan of the books, I think the adaptations were very sympathetic to the originals. The animation and narration are first class, and if you are a fan of the books, you won't be disappointed, and if you were a fan of Bagpuss and the other output from Smallfilms such as the Klangers then this will be right up your street.
