Alan Blair and Lorri Scott

"Never Steal a Warlock's Wife" benefits from the novelty of having a necromancer for a protagonist, otherwise sunk by the same dreary plotting found in other episodes. Hubert Ames (Alan Blair, also seen in "Fever" and "Black Nemesis") is a meek bank clerk who believes that his wife Florence (Lorri Scott, also seen in "The Secret of the Telescope" and "Black Nemesis") has been having an affair with another man. This is confirmed one day when he finds her with Jeffrey Carter (Robert Kanter, also seen in "Black Nemesis"), so he visits a pet shop and asks the owner (Hilda Bruce Potter, also seen in "Fever" and "Black Nemesis") if she can provide a cat to act as his familiar. Stealing the payroll from under the nose of his bank president (Ben Bennett, also seen in "Black Nemesis") and Inspector Mallory (Sydney Coulson, also seen in "The Secret of the Telescope" and "Black Nemesis") makes little impression on the greedy Florence, whose taunting laughter forces Hubert to go ahead with a spell that will dispatch both her and Jeffrey. A minor twist at the end doesn't save it from overly familiar elements common to this series, the same cast utilized for "Black Nemesis."
