Storyline

A man comes by the house claiming that The Bunker's have a problem with heat loss in their home. He bars up the basement, and has Archie sign a contract for aluminum siding that he says he will get for free despite the fact that their house is brick. Edith reads the fine print and finds out that it will cost them $2000 no matter what happens. Archie is too stubborn to listen to Edith's good advice and signs the contract anyway. After the man leaves, Irene comes by to tell them that the man is scam artist who inspected their house with a light meter and a lot of phony advice. Archie is stuck with the contract and when the man shows us to start putting up the siding, it takes Mike, Gloria, George, Louise and Irene to get him out of the contract. another brick in the wall
29 June 2010 | by stones78See all my reviews

This episode is just another brick in the wall, meaning just another solid episode with many laughs and Archie is made to look foolish once again; this time Archie is the victim of an aluminum siding "salesman", as he convinces Archie he needs siding on his brick house. Despite reservations from Edith, he still signs the contract and is oblivious that he's being swindled. It gets funnier when Mike and the gang know that Archie was taken advantage of, even though he's positive he just got a good deal. When Edith thinks there's a problem, you know there is, but her stubborn husband thinks he's got the deal of the century, but soon finds out otherwise.

Eventually, they convince Archie he was wronged, and a cop plus Irene's lawyer nephew make things right again. I like how the gang, also including the Jefferson's, stood by him and made sure he didn't get ripped off. That scene alone tells me that Archie is still liked by his "friends", even with his attitude at times.
