Quotes

Archie Bunker: [arguing about Edith not being paid for being a housewife] Edith. You're scaring me. You've got a crazy look in your eye like your aunt Lou at the funny farm.
Edith Bunker: And you got a meeeaaan look on your face. Like that man at the First Friendly Bank!
Edith Bunker: [starts clearing the dinner table] Or that man at Kressler's department store. I don't wanna do this! Here, you clean the table. AND I AIN'T PAYING YA FOR IT NEITHER!

Edith can't get a bank loan
20 May 2018 | by Jimmy_the_Gent4See all my reviews

Edith wants to buy Archie a new TV set but the bank won't lend her the money because she is just a housewife.

A sluggish episode with few laughs. The scene where Edith tries to get a bank loan from the stuck up banker goes on forever, it's just an excuse for Edith to tell him off at the end, out of character for her. Then she comes home and argues with Archie about not getting paid for housework, she gets very shrill and it's not funny. A couple of exasperated reactions from Archie and ending in one his pantomime "suicide" scenes are the only amusing moments.
