Hoss hangs a jury
19 July 2016 | by bkoganbingSee all my reviews

There are so many Bonanza stories where Dan Blocker is made out to be the butt of a lot of humor. I'll bet he enjoyed doing this episode where for once not only was Hoss Cartwright not a dunce, but actually the only one using his brain.

Blocker and David Canary are on a jury that votes 11 to 1 for a guilty verdict for Noah Beery Jr. Hoss has reasonable doubts as to Beery's guilt. But things get mighty hairy around Virginia City after Berry breaks out of jail.

Beery as a frightened fugitive and Coleen Gray as the prospective daughter-in-law of the deceased stand out in this episode. So does Dan Blocker as the smartest guy in Virginia City.
