The singer who cried wolf...
14 August 2012 | by MartinHaferSee all my reviews

Pop singer Johnny Desmond stars in this installment of "Climax!". He plays a rather obnoxious and unlikable singer who is all about promoting himself--even when the publicity stunts he performs are annoying. It's gotten so bad that he's arranged to have a fake assassination attempt (with a loaded gun) and no one cares!! Truly he's worn out his welcome as far as the press is concerned, though he's still a popular act--and act that should speak for itself.

Eventually, however, one of his supposed stunts backfires. When he announces that he can identify a cop-killer, the press doesn't care and won't bother covering his press conference. They all think it's a sick joke. However, the actual killer doesn't and has plans to silence this big-mouth.

While the plot is clearly a reworking of the old story 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf', it is interesting. Plus, seeing folks like Jackie Coogan and James Dunn was nice in their supporting roles. Worth seeing and kind of cool.
