Trivia

This program was based on a true story of John Richard Bayless who was arrested on a Tuesday the last week of April as he stepped off an transcontinental plane that had landed in New York City. but it was not the end of the story. On November 8, 1965, in the evening, the Bayless and another inmate escaped from the federal penitentiary at McNeil Island, From there they climbed over the fence to the unguarded part of the island where they were able to hide for several days.

The government maintains homes on the island for some of the prison officials. They remained in a doctor's house until the morning of November 13, 1965, Prison officials then recaptured the prisoners and returned them to confinement. Now you know the rest of the story. See more »
