The Jim Stark gang heads for Dodge City to plan their next robbery. Stark has been warned that Dodge's Marshall Dillon will be a formidable opponent, so he plans to get rid of Dillon before the robbery. After his first attempt fails, Stark comes up with another plan to get Dillon out of the way, and this time it works. The Stark gang robs the bank, but it does not go exactly as planned, and in the second part of this show, Stark will be looking over his shoulder for Dillon. Written by David Wile

A Very Good Gunsmoke
28 June 2019 | by Mike_YikeSee all my reviews

I watched this Gunsmoke episode on one of the nostalgia TV channels. This episode is actually a two-parter. I was about two thirds the way through Part 1 when I remarked to myself that it was almost as good as a solid, 1950s western movie that had been in theatrical release. A lot of that has to do with the cast, both the guest stars and the regular cast. As guest stars there was John Anderson, Gary Lockwood and Richard Jaeckel. What's more, the cinematography seemed to be a notch above the regular Gunsmoke fare. And it seemed that even the music was better, more dynamic and creating more emotion. So a good Gunsmoke that I highly recommend if you want to see the best in black-and-white TV from the old days.
